Ask. Diagnose. Prioritise.
You cannot fix what you have never measured, and no dashboard reports what an AI model says about your brand. So we ask the engines directly. We run the prompts your buyers run, record what comes back, then work backwards to find the cause on your site. The result is a written report that separates what is blocking you today from what is worth building over the next two quarters.

01
Ask
We run a defined prompt set across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews, and record where you appear, where competitors appear, and what the engines say about you when they do.

02
Diagnose
A structured 52-point review across seven sections: retrieval crawler access, the SEO fundamentals that gate it, passage and chunk structure, entity and authority, structured data, prompt visibility testing, and measurement.

Three questions a GEO audit answers
Most brands have no idea what AI answers say about them. These are the three things you find out, in that order, and each one changes what you should do next.
-
01
Are you in the answer at all?
We run your category, comparison and problem-led prompts across the major engines and record every mention, every citation, and every competitor that shows up where you do not.
See what we check -
02
Can the engines even reach you?
AI vendors run three separate crawler classes, and they do completely different jobs. Blocking the wrong one removes you from answers entirely, and most sites that block AI bots block the wrong one by accident.

03
Why are they citing someone else?
Retrieval systems do not read pages, they score passages. A well-written article can rank on page one and never get cited, while a plainer competitor with tight question-and-answer structure gets pulled into answers repeatedly.

How an Illucrum GEO audit works
One process, one deliverable: a scored report with prioritised fixes and a clear action plan.
-
Intake (Day 1)
A written exchange to understand your business, your category, and the questions your buyers actually ask before they decide.
-
Prompt set and crawl (Days 1 to 3)
We build a prompt set of 10 to 15 queries from your buyers' real language, agree it with you, then run it logged out across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Copilot, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode.
-
Manual review (Days 3 to 5)
The 52-point checklist applied by hand. No tool reports why an engine skipped you, so this is where the findings come from. Expect 10 to 14 hours of audit work before a word of the report is written.
-
Scoring and report (Days 5 to 8)
Each finding is scored by impact and effort. The result is a prioritised action plan, not a folder of screenshots.
Why GEO matters in 2026
AI answers now sit above the organic results, and they are assembled from a different set of sources than the ranking algorithm uses. The numbers below come from 2025 and 2026 primary research, not anecdotes.
-
~25%
of Google searches now return an AI Overview, up from around 13% in March 2025. The answer arrives before the first organic result does.
SOURCE TODO -
Only 20%
of the URLs cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity also rank in Google's top 10. Ranking well and being cited are two different disciplines.
SOURCE TODO -
54%
drop in click-through on position 1 when an AI Overview appears, from 1.41% to 0.64%. Ranking first no longer means being read first.

Common questions
The questions that come up before most engagements. The full FAQ lives on its own page.
What is GEO, and how is it different from SEO?
SEO is about ranking on a results page. GEO, Generative Engine Optimisation, is about being retrieved, extracted, attributed and cited inside the answer an AI model writes. The two overlap, but only a minority of the URLs AI engines cite also sit in Google's top 10 for the same query. A site can rank first and be invisible to ChatGPT; a site can be cited by Perplexity while ranking on page three.
How do you measure something that changes every time you ask?
By running a fixed prompt set of 10 to 15 queries, two to three times each, across several engines, logged out and with personalisation off, then recording the pattern rather than a single output. Individual answers vary. The pattern of which brands and which sources keep appearing is stable enough to act on, and the prompt set becomes your baseline for measuring whether anything changed.
How long does an audit take to deliver?
Five to eight business days from intake to final report. Running the prompt set properly takes time, and so does tracing each gap back to a cause on your site.
Does the audit include implementation?
No, the audit is a standalone deliverable. You can implement the changes yourself, or we can scope that separately as a fixed-price project.
